The Akamas National Park is located on the western tip of Cyprus, one of the most stunning parts of the island. It covers around 230 square kilometres containing valleys, gorges and wide sandy bays. What makes the Akamas so special, is the wildlife diversity which is crucial for the ecology in the Mediterranean.

The Akamas boosts 168 varieties of birds, 16 species of butterflies, 20 different reptiles and 12 different mammals not to mention its very rich variety of fauna.

The European Council has included the Akamas Peninsula in its Mediterranean Protection Programme.
